SALISBURY — The proposed school central office and a new facade for Benchwarmers are on a busy agenda Thursday night for the city’s Historic Preservation Commission.
When the commission meets at 5:15 p.m. in City Hall, 217 S. Main St., architect Bill Burgin and the Rowan Salisbury School System will ask for a certificate of appropriateness to build a three-story, 62,817-square-foot office building at 319 S. Main St. for administrative staff.
The city plans to borrow $8.37 million to construct the central office on behalf of the school system.
Benchwarmers owner Todd Littleton will request a certificate of appropriateness for a new facade, signage, alley improvements and roof at 113-119 E. Fisher St.
The 100 block of East Fisher Street — along with Benchwarmers, Ted’s Barber Shop and Shear Magic Hair Salon — were closed last month for about a week after bricks began falling off the facade, which was removed.
The building is currently wrapped in plastic and the street reopened June 21.
Also on the agenda:
• 923 N. Main St.
Jeff and Kelly Cannon request adding a 10-by-12-foot wooden storage building to the rear of the property to be painted to match the house.

If granite curb is not available, curb will be concrete.
Yatawara requests demolition of the former SERVCO and A.T.I.C. structure and removal of existing pavement, then grading and seeding the lot. He said plans call for replacing the sidewalk and installing a 10-foot-wide concrete pavement area from sidewalk to curb at the bus stop, as well as planting trees or shrubs.
