CHINA GROVE — China Grove Councilman Charles Seaford believes he’s made a difference on the town board and wants the opportunity to continue, he said.
Seaford, 61, won a seat on the board for the first time in November 2009 and is running for re-election.
He is a Rowan native and a 36-year employe with Duke Energy. Seaford currently works as a procedures and training coordinator at Duke Energy’s Buck Combined Cycle Plant in Salisbury.
He said he’s enjoyed being part of town planning and looking at what the board wants the town to be in two, three, five and 10 years down the road.
“I feel that I have made a difference on the board in helping to keep our taxes at a minimum and our town sewer/water rate down,” he said.
Seaford said he hopes the voters will allow him to serve again by re-electing him to another term.
He currently serves on the China Grove Parks and Recreation Committee, is a volunteer for Bostian Heights Fire Department and is an emergency medical technician instructor for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
Seaford graduated from North Rowan High School in 1970 and from Pfeiffer College in 1974 with a degree in accounting, business and economics.
Seaford is a member of Rodgers Park Baptist Church where he serves as the Sunday school director and teaches the adult Sunday school class.
Seaford is married to Telia “TJ” Waugh Seaford and together they have four children and three grandchildren.
Seaford is one of five people vying for three available seats including incumbents Mike Upright and Brandon Linn and Butch Bivens and Barbara Doby, who have held positions on the board in the past.
