Hoffner Organic Farm will host the Dairy Dash 5K on Saturday, Sept. 14. The race is on dirt roads through a working farm.
Proceeds go the LandTrust of Central Carolina.
Participants will get a specially designed Holstein dri-fit t-shirt. Overall and age group winners will receive dairy cow themed trophies. Top three age group winners will also receive a pair of Wrightsocks. There will be special awards for top three overall and top three masters, male and female.
Post-race refreshments will include Uncle Scott’s Root Beer and Organic Valley cheese and milk. There will be ice cream from West Rowan Farm Home and Garden. The Chick-fil-a cow will also be on hand and has been asked to officially start the 5K race.
Passes from the United States National Whitewater Center will be raffled.
The race will once again have the “Worn Out Shoe” contest. The winner will get $50 for the most worn out running shoe, plus $25 more if they are a member of the Salisbury Rowan Runners, and $25 more if they ran or volunteered in the shoes at the Dairy Dash. Contest participants must have both shoes to qualify for the cash award. SRR Publicity Director Elaine Brown has promised to have haz-mat personnel on stand-by.
Title sponsors are Wrightsocks and Billy Joe Kepley.
