SPENCER — One person was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle head-on collision Wednesday at the intersection of Five Row Street and Long Ferry Road.
The crash, which occurred Wednesday just before 7 p.m. involved four people, one of whom was temporarily pinned inside her vehicle. The woman, whose name was not immediately available, was pinned inside a Ford Taurus and had to be freed from the vehicle. The passenger car struck a Dodge Ram pickup. The pickup came to rest along the roadside while the vehicle came to rest in the middle of Long Ferry Road, just across from Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Spencer Fire Lt. Jeremy Carter said it took rescuers about eight-to-10 minutes to free the victim. He could not specify the woman’s condition. Millers Ferry Fire Department provided mutual aid and freed the woman from the car. She was taken by ambulance to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center with unknown injuries.
Carter said the rest of the people involved refused medical care. Traffic had to be detoured around the crash for nearly an hour until the vehicles could be towed from the road.
