The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office says a Rosemont Road woman turned in her grandson after discovering her was growing marijuana at her home.
Terry Adam Stiller, 27, of the 100 block of Rosemont Road, is charged with felony manufacture of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling place for a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a gun with altered serial numbers.
Deputies received a call from Virginia Misenheimer, who said her grandson was growing marijuana on her property. She told deputies she’d seen two plants growing in 5-gallon buckets and that she “did not approve of drugs.” Stiller lives just a few blocks from his grandmother’s house.
Misenheimer gave officials permission to check the property and deputies discovered seven plants in 5-gallon buckets. Stiller arrived at the property while officers were there. An officer asked Stiller if he knew why they were there, and he said he did.
He showed deputies his “grow house,” containers of rain water, growing solutions, potting soil and marijuana plants. He also had a black safe that contained a green smoking device, bags with green stems, and a Taurus 45-caliber handgun with the serial numbers scratched off.
Deputies also found a book in the safe on how to grow marijuana.
Stiller was released from the Rowan County jail after posting a $25,000 secured bond.
