Salisbury Police were searching an area near Salisbury High School this morning and the school was placed on yellow lockdown, for the second time in three days. The school was placed on lockdown around 10:30 a.m. and it lasted about 15 minutes. During a lockdown, all of the school’s doors are locked and students are not allowed to leave the building, but classes continue normally.
Salisbury High interim Principal Kathy McDuffie issued a Connect-ED message to parents informing them of the lockdown. She said because of a threatening situation in the area and they were on lockdown at the request of Salisbury Police.
The Post is working to obtain more information as to why the lockdown was put into place.
On Monday the police were conducting a drug raid of a Lincolnton Street home and the school was placed on lockdown then as a precaution. Also on Monday North Rowan High, North Rowan Middle and North Rowan Elementary schools were placed red lockdown while police were involved in a short foot chase following a home break-in. During a red lockdown classes are stopped and no one enters or leaves the buildings.
