Fire at Concord Sleep Inn

CONCORD — Early this morning, Concord firefighters responded to an alarm at the Sleep Inn Hotel at 1120 Copperfield Blvd. NE to find heavy smoke coming from the back of the hotel.
Firefighters were able to knock down the fire quickly because the hotel’s sprinkler system activated. The cause of the fire was improperly discarded smoking material, but was deemed accidental. There were no injuries to guests or firefighters. The call came in at 12:10 a.m., and fire was under control by 12:28 a.m.
Departments responding included Concord Department of Life and Safety, Concord Police Department, Kannapolis Fire Department and Cabarrus EMS. No damage estimates are available at this time.
