The Arc of Rowan’s Festival of Trees, the agency’s only major fundraiser, begins today. The annual event features a display of artfully decorated Christmas trees on display at the F&M Trolley Barn.
The Festival of Trees is free to the public and this year will include a silent auction. Donations will also be accepted.
This year, 51 trees will be on display. Local businesses, individuals and other community partners sponsored a tree. The silent auction will feature artwork by Spencer artist Betty Sedberry, gift cards from local businesses and a handmade quilt, as well as cakes and desserts. There will also be hot cocoa and cookies available at the event. The event is possible with the help of these sponsors: F&M Bank, Food Lion, Sara Lee and Wells Fargo.
The decorating began Thursday and the public will have three chances to see the trees, located at 127 East Liberty St. on the following days:
• Today, 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
• Saturday, Dec. 7, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
• Sunday, Dec. 8, 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
