SPENCER — A young girl injured in a Friday night collision that claimed the life of five others has been taken off life support, officials say.
Taliah Williams, 8, died at Brenner’s Childrens Hospital at 6:38 p.m. on Saturday, making her the sixth fatality, and third child involved in this crash.
Spencer Police said in a short statement released Sunday night.
Williams was one of nine people inside a GMC Envoy that struck a tree and caught fire on South Rowan Avenue, near 11th Street.
The cause of the crash remains unclear.
The small SUV was driven by Angela Monique Dunlap, 28 of South Yadkin Avenue, and included her daughter, Da’Ja Cathcart, 10, Sean Javan Jacobs, 25, and Karizma Nichole Sexton, 4, both of N. Jackson St., Salisbury, and Vincent Eugene McNeal of 915 N. Jackson St., Salisbury.
Davion Williams and Javion Williams, both 6, remain at Brenner’s Childrens Hospital in Winston-Salem.
The other survivor, Charles Patrick, 10, of 917 N. Jackson St., Salisbury, was treated for minor injuries.
“The Spencer Police Department would like to give their condolences to the family of those that have died,” the statement said.
