South Rowan took the boys and girls North Piedmont Conference championships Thursday in the conference meet at the J.F. Hurley YMCA.

The Raiders won 14 events and acculumated 302 points in the girls’ team score and 264 in the boys.

Reigning NPC Swimmer of the Year Nicole Mauldin won the 200 yard IM and the 100 butterfly for South. The boys were led by Luke Rary, who won the 100 butterfly and the 200 IM edging out Carson’s John Patella.

North Hills hoops
The North Hills jayvee boys lost to Piedmont Community Charter 42-38.

Collin Lewis scored 14 points for the Eagles. Austin Patterson had 10.

• The North Hills varsity boys lost to Piedmont Community Charter 68-50.

Leonard Murdock had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Eagles. Chris Taylor had 14 points and nine rebounds.

• The North Hills middle school girls beat Success Institute 35-29 in overtime.

Dajah Glenn scored 12, Marissa Murdock had 10, and Coryn Soul and Caroline Cody led the rebounding.

• The North Hills jayvee boys, varsity girls and varsity boys are at home on Friday against Cramerton, with games starting at 4:30 p.m.

• The North Hills varsity girls fell to CHE 44-28.

Natalie Whicker scored 13 points for the Eagles. Abby Lane scored six points. C.C. Lyerly also played well.

Local golf
GARS members played in foursomes at Warrior earlier this week.

Low ‘A’ Fight player was Ron Ervin with a net of 68.04. Low ‘B’ Flight player with a net of 64.33 was Guy Schenk. Low ‘C’ Flight player with a net of 71.58 was Bobby Bryant. Low ‘D’ Flight player with a net of 69.22 was Harold Caudill.

Salisbury Academy girls
Salisbury Academy’s girls defeated First Christian Academy 23-9. The Jaguars were led by Jenny Kribbs with nine points and four steals. Jordan McCall pitched in with five points. Juliana Anderson led the team in rebounding.

•McCall had 12 points and Maria Capito had 10 points and five steals to lead the Jaguars in a 37-17 victory over Concordia Lutheran of Hickory. Anderson had eight points and led the team in rebounds with six. Samantha Pritchard led the team in blocked shots and played an outstanding defensive game.

• Kribbs scored 12 points and McCall had eight points and five rebounds in a 35-25 victory over First Assembly of Winston-Salem. Anderson had seven rebounds and Pritchard had six. Capito led the defense with 3 steals.

• The Jaguars (13-2) defeated Triad Baptist of Kernersville 52-19. Capito had 14 points and eight steals. Kribbs scored 12 points. Anderson and McCall scored eight each. Pritchard scored six. and Abby Lee had five. Madison Day and Ruth Clement led the rebounding.

Salisbury Academy boys
Salisbury Academy’s boys lost to First Christian Academy 62-37. Carter Cook scored 17 points for the Jaguars. Marcus Corry had 10 points and five rebounds. Jaelen McClellan had 11 rebounds.

• Salisbury Academy beat Concordia Lutheran

Corry had 20 points, five assists, six steals and nine rebounds. McClellan had 12 points and nine rebounds. Ben Coulter had 12 points. Mike Hughes scored seven points and blocked four shots.

• The Jaguars lost 49-45 to First Assembly. Cook scored 17 points, and Andrew Kalogeromitros scored 10. McClellan had eight points and eight rebounds. Corry had six points, eight assists, eight steals, seven rebounds and five blocks.

• In a 55-32 win against Triad Baptist, Cook had 25 points and five steals. Corry had 10 points, five assists and five steals. Kalogeromitros had 10 points and four steals. Hughes had seven points and four blocks.

College cycling
Twins Katherine and Emily Shields (Salisbury) rode for Lees-McRae in the Cyclo-cross Nationals in Madison, Wisc., on Saturday.

Katherine paced the field for the Bobcats, finishing eighth with a time of 50:57. Emily followed close behind, placing 10th with a time of 51:28.

Hurley YMCA
Registration for boys high school basketball for ages 15-18 continues until Feb. 3. Coaches are needed. Contact Phillip Hilliard for more information if interested at 704-636-0111.

Lady Razorbacks
The Lady Razorbacks 10U softball travel team will be conducting tryouts for the upcoming season on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 1-3 p.m. at Salisbury Community Park on Hurley School Road. Since this is a closed tryout/practice, please drop off your child at 12:45 and pick up at 3:15.

Prep hoops
Davie’s girls topped North Davidson 76-60 in CPC action on Thursday. Haleigh Hatfield scored 25 points for the War Eagles. Amy Steller scored 18, and Madison Zaferatos had 17.

• The Statesville-West Rowan games scheduled for today already have been postponed by the weather forecast.

Carson camp
The Carson girls basketball camp for middle school girls and elementary school girls has been postponed until Feb. 2 due to the weather forecast.

7th-grade hoops
Mooresville’s girls edged Erwin 28-26.

Sydney Taylor had nine points and six steals for Erwin. Anna Shafer and Caroline Johnson scored six points each. Johnson had eight rebounds, and Hollie Harrison had four assists.

Mooresville was led by Jaden Horton with 10 points. Niyah Davis added six points for the Red Imps.

•Erwin’s boys won 41-35 against Mooresville.

Cole Perry scored 16 points for the Eagles. Perry also had six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Josh Ellis added 11 points, nine boards and four steals. Trevor Scruggs scored eight points, and William Brown had seven rebounds.

Mooresville’s Seth Welch and Justin Williams each scored eight points.
