KANNAPOLIS — The Kannapolis Fire Department is trying to determine what caused a fire late Monday at Burger King on North Cannon Boulevard.
Firefighters responded around 10:30 p.m. Initial calls from inside the restaurant indicated smoke was coming from a bathroom and was filling up the dining area, officials said in news release.
Arriving within two minutes, firefighters found moderate smoke coming from the roof. Some firefighters got on the roof to locate and extinguish the spreading flames while other crews ensured that everyone was out of the building.
Landis and Odell volunteer fire departments provided district coverage while Kannapolis units were at the fire. Rowan County EMS also responded.
