SALISBURY — A driver traveling the wrong way on a one-way city side street set off a chain-reaction wreck early this afternoon at South Jackson and West Horah streets.
A woman passenger in one of the cars was injured and taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Salisbury Police Officer M.P. Benjamin said a silver Pontiac Grand Am was heading south on South Jackson Street, which was the wrong way for the one-way street.
The driver proceeded into the intersection at West Horah Street and struck a late-model Ford Taurus, which was going west on Horah.
The collision of the Pontiac and Taurus rolled into a third car, a silver Honda Accord, which was traveling east on Horah and preparing to make a left turn onto South Jackson Street, Benjamin reported.
A woman who was a front-seat passenger in the Taurus was extricated from the vehicle, placed on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.
Benjamin said he cited the driver of the Pontiac with traveling the wrong direction on a one-way street.
Names were not immediately available this afternoon.
