Carson senior guard Kelly Dulkoski has set a program record for points in a season.
Dulkoski has scored 457 points to break the mark of 439 that she set last season.
Dulkoski also owns the Carson girls program records for points in a single game (36) and a career (1,298).
• Dulkoski is averaging 21.8 points a game, but that’s still only second in the county. Salisbury junior Brielle Blaire has topped the 500 points mark for the season already and averages 24.2 points per game.
Blaire needs 14 points tonight against Lexington to reach 1,500 for her career.
Blaire is third all-time in scoring for Salisbury’s program. Donna Carr scored 1,659 points, while Shayla Fields is the all-time leader for county basketball players (male and female) with 2,783.
• West Rowan senior Shay Steele is averaging 21.3 points per game and has 1,402 for her career. Steele ranks sixth in program history. She’s closing in on Kari Schenk (1,446).
• The big girls game tonight is West Rowan at North Iredell.
Both teams are part of a three-way tie with Carson for first place in the NPC as the season winds down.
West Rowan’s only NPC loss — and only loss all season — was at home to North Iredell.
North Iredell lost at Carson. West Rowan won at Carson.
Carson plays West Iredell tonight, so the Cougars are likely to be tied for first at the end of the evening with the North Iredell-West Rowan winner.
East Rowan, still in the driver’s seat for fourth place and a 3A state playoff berth, is at South Rowan tonight.
• The NPC boys games to keep an eye on tonight are West Rowan at North Iredell and East Rowan at South Rowan. Either South Rowan or North Iredell is going to finish fourth in a league that gets four playoff berths.
Carson’s boys, coming off their first-ever NPC sweep of rival South Rowan, are favored by a lot against West Iredell.
• In YVC action tonight, North Rowan is at home against South Stanly.
North’s boys are likely to run the table in the YVC with a 16-0 record for the first time. North has finished 14-2 in the league once and 15-1 twice.
• Salisbury is home against Lexington. Both Salisbury teams have struggled some, but both are still in the playoff hunt. The six-team CCC gets four playoff berths.
Salisbury’s boys lost 66-64 at Lexington the first time.
• In the SPC, A.L. Brown is at Hickory Ridge. In the CPC, Davie is home against Reagan. Reagan’s boys nipped Davie in their first meeting.
• In the NCPreps.com poll, North Rowan’s boys are ranked No. 4 in 1A. Albemarle, which has lost only to North (twice), is ranked 10th.
• CCC leader Central Davidson is ranked eighth in the 2A boys poll.
• SPC leader Concord is still ranked No. 1 in the 3A boys poll. NPC leader Statesville is ranked sixth.
• CPC leader Mount Tabor is ranked fourth in the 4A boys poll. Reagan and Davie are in a tie for 10th.
• YVC leader South Davidson is ranked eighth in 1A girls.
• In the 3A girls poll, West Rowan is third.

Prep swimming

Hough won the 4A girls state championship for swimming and diving on Friday. Green Hope won the boys state title. The 3A Championships will be held today in Cary.

Prep football

Providence Day’s John Carrick will continue his football career at D-III Washington and Lee in Lexington, Va.
Carrick played both ways for Providence Day coach Bruce Hardin and was a leader for a state championship team in 2011.
Carrick (6-1, 210) was chosen to ply in the Oasis Shrine Bowl for private schools and is expected to play linebacker at Washington and Lee.
Carrick has many relatives in Salisbury. His father, Ken, was a standout for Catawba in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Prep baseball

South Rowan’s Dylan Goodman will play at Pfeiffer.

• Northwest Cabarrus first baseman Jordan Goodman, who signed with Catawba, is a finalist for the Spirit of the Game Award. Winners will be announced at the 6th annual Greater Charlotte Hot Stove Leager Dinner on Saturday.
• Northwest’s Tanner Bigham, a UNC signee, is a finalist for Charlotte Metro Area Player of the Year.

North Hills hoops

The North Hills jayvee boys beat Grace Christian 64-36.
Ian Bradshaw and James Houghton scored 16 points each for the Eagles, and Chris Norris added 15.
• The North Hills varsity boys rolled 82-35 against Grace. Leonard Murdock had 19 points and six rebounds. Stephen Adams had 18 points and 10 steals.
• The North Hills middle school girls completed the regular season with a 44-38 win against Success Institute.
They went 10-0 in the PAC-8 and start tournament play at home on Feb. 19.
• The North Hills varsity teams will have Senior Night on Feb. 12, when they play Christ the King. The Eagles will honor the life of Jonny Richardson on that night.

College softball

Catawba’s softball team won 10-8 against Queens on Thursday in its opening game.
Kim Fesperman (South Rowan) hit a two-run homer for the Indians. Selena Ashley was the winning pitcher. Catawba pounded out 13 hits.
The second game of the doubleheader was rained out.

College volleyball

Lenoir-Rhyne’s Kayla Morrow (South Rowan) made the President’s List for the fall semester.
• Former Catawba star Andi Henderson was named head coach at Winston-Salem State.

College men’s hoops

Pfeiffer lost 104-82 at North Greenville on Thursday.
A.J. Clark scored 22 for the Falcons (3-18, 1-13 CC).

College women’s hoops

Pfeiffer rolled 87-68 against North Greenville in women’s Conference Carolinas action.
Pfeiffer (17-3, 12-3) won its sixth straight. Brittany Cox scored 31 for the Falcons.

7th-grade girls hoops

Undefeated North Rowan Middle rolled 41-19 against Erwin. Egypt Alexander scored 31 for the Mavericks (6-0).
Hollie Harrison scored six for the Eagles (3-3), while Sydney Taylor had five.
• Southeast rolled 43-21 against Knox behind 31 points by Olivia Gabriel. Alexandra Linder, Sarah Musselwhite, Shaleah Jolly and Maren Shumaker contributed to the Patriots’ victory.

7th-grade boys hoops

North Rowan Middle’s boys won 51-39 against Erwin.
Dajuan Clement scored 13 points for the Mavericks (3-3).
Tyrese Lawrence scored 11, and Xavier Haley had 10. Chris Tulloch scored eight, while Jayden Jones had six.
Leading the Eagles (3-3) was Josh Ellis with 15 points. Cole Perry had nine, and Trevor Scruggs scored seven.

Sacred Heart hoops

Sacred Heart’s varsity girls won 29-22 against Hickory Christian. Annie Habeeb scored 11, Julia Honeycutt six, and Payton Russell five.

Phenoms tryouts

The Carolina Phenoms will be holding tryouts on Saturday at North Rowan, with boys in grades 6-7 from 1-2:30 and boys in graes 3-5 from 2:30-4.
