Jacqueline Davies, children and young adult author, visited Rowan-Salisbury Schools on Feb. 4. More than 500 elementary academically gifted language arts students and Battle of the Books teams from all 20 elementary schools attended her presentation at North Rowan High School.
Davies shared many of her books, showcasing “The Lemonade War Series.” All of the students attending had read “The Lemonade War,” the first in the series that received the North Carolina Children’s Book Award.
She also shared the first book she wrote in kindergarten, titled “The Sad Shape,” and discussed the importance of rising and falling action along with revision for all writers. Davies’ books are entertaining, and teach math and business terms, legal terms, justice and fairness, along with friendship and complex emotions.
Davies lives in Needham, Ma., with her three children and their dog. She enjoys reading, gardening, running and knitting.
