Officials have upgraded the condition of a man brought to a Concord hospital following a weekend head-on collision that injured three and killed a Salisbury woman.
Joel P. Stewart, 45, of East Chatham, N.Y., is in good condition. He was the passenger in a pickup and was undergoing surgery at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast for a broken thigh bone following the Sunday crash.
Terri Myers McPherson, 45, was driving east on N.C. 152 around 3 p.m. when she crossed the center line near the N.C. 153 intersection. Her Plymouth collided with a Chevrolet pickup traveling west. She died at the scene. Her 9-year-old daughter was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The driver of the pickup, Jonathan P. Harty, also 45, of Canaan, N.Y., was also taken to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast. Harty is not listed as a patient at the Concord hospital.
It is still unclear what caused McPherson to cross the center line. The N.C. Highway Patrol investigated the collision and no new updates regarding the crash were available today.
