Laws, a junior pitcher for Carson, helped the Cougars make history in a 7-3 victory over East Rowan. It was the first-ever win over the Mustangs, spanning seven years and 16 games.

Laws needed only 85 pitches in the win and struck out nine. Leading only 4-3 in the top of the seventh, he helped his own cause with an RBI double. In the bottom of the seventh, he sat East down 1-2-3 and improved to 3-1 on the season. Carson (12-2, 6-1) is in first place in the North Piedmont Conference.
