Forrest James Pfaff, 18, is receiving his Eagle Scout award today, Sunday, May 12, 2013, at First United Methodist Church of Salisbury. His Scoutmaster, David B. Wilson, will make the presentation.
As a member of Troop 442, Forrest has earned 26 merit badges. He has served as an Instructor and as Senior Patrol Leader. He completed a 78 mile backpacking trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in 2010 and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. With leaders including Bruce Kolkebeck and Mark Schiemann, he has earned awards including the Philmont Duty to God, Philmont Arrowhead, 50-Miler (Canoeing), 50-Miler (Backpacking), Mile Swim BSA, Snorkeling BSA and Kayaking BSA. Forrest has also completed the National Youth Leader Training course.
Forrest has played football with the Rowan County Football League since he was in the third grade, with leadership from Coach Romeo and Coach Knox.
A junior at Salisbury High School, Forrest has been on the football team for the past three years as a wide receiver, playing with leadership from Coach Pinyan and looking forward to the leadership of Coach Crowder. In 2010, he participated in the state 2AA championship game played at Wake Forest University. Forest also was on the swim team in 2011 and is a member of the Latin Club. He is a confirmed member of First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury. He is employed part-time at Go Burrito and is saving his earnings for college.
For his Eagle Scout leadership service project, Forrest planned and led a team of scouts and other volunteers in improving the facilities at Rowan Helping Ministries.
Forrest’s mother and step-father are Sandra and Chris Borre of Salisbury.
