Scott Murray with the N.C. School Board Association will talk to the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education today about a timeline for the local board’s superintendent search.
The board meets 5 p.m. today at its offices at 110 S. Long St., East Spencer.
Dr. Judy Grissom, superintendent of Rowan-Salisbury since 2005, sent an email to system employees March 30 announcing she would retire Sept. 30.
School board Chairman Richard Miller has said the school board will work with the N.C. School Boards Association, whose search services include sending out announcements, collecting resumes and bringing them back to the local board for review.
Also at today’s meeting, the board will discuss and vote upon its proposed 2013-14 local budget, to be presented to county commissioners later this spring. The system anticipates $4.2 million in new local operating expenses that staff has not identified a way to offset. A $26 million capital outlay proposal, up from $2.4 million this year, includes $13.5 million for a new Woodleaf Elementary School and $8 million for a central office.
A marketing presentation from Assistant Superintendent Gene Miller is also on the agenda.
