OCEAN ISLE BEACH – Scarlette Elisa Houston of China Grove and Ryan Christopher Pless of Salisbury were united in marriage Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Ocean Isle Beach Chapel.
Mike Robinson and the Rev. Dr. Patty Meyers officiated the 7 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at The Isles.
The bride was escorted by her father, Rick Houston, and attended by her sister, Lauren Houston of China Grove, as maid of honor. Her bridesmaids were Meredith Jones of Mooresville, Lauren Crawford of Greensboro, and Jessi Graham, Hillary Robinson, Merritt Robinson and Megan Smith, all of Salisbury. Madison Smith of Salisbury served as junior bridesmaid.
Honorary bridesmaids were Mallory Patterson of Salisbury, Candice Caldwell of Huntersville, Allie Groesser of Waynesville and Jackie Schenck of Wake Forest.
Cale McDaniel of Gainesville, Ga., stood as best man. Groomsmen were brothers of the groom Ethan Pless and Avery Pless of Salisbury; Sam Wisensel of Salisbury; Jerry Wayne Parker of Gold Hill; brother of the bride Nick Houston of China Grove; David Gift of Jarvisburg; and Mike Singleton of Morehead City.
Bailey Zino and Brooks Zino of Salisbury were flower girls, and Colson Pless of China Grove was ring bearer.
Katie Zino of Salisbury was guest registrar.
The bride is the daughter of Rick Houston of Salisbury and Lisa Houston of China Grove. She is the granddaughter of Edith Houston of Salisbury. A 2006 graduate of South Rowan High School, Scarlette received a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Western Carolina University in 2010. A student at Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, she is also the director of Children and Youth Ministries at Mount Zion United Church of Christ.
The groom is the son of George Jr. and Betsy Pless of Salisbury and the grandson of Mildred Watson of Salisbury and George Sr. and Frances Pless of Rockwell. A 2006 graduate of East Rowan High School, Ryan received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Western Carolina University in 2011. He is employed by Cozart Lumber of Rockwell.
Following a wedding trip to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., the couple will make their home in Concord.
