Catawba’s Chris Dula was named South Atlantic Conference Male Athlete of the Year.
Dula was SAC Baseball Player of the Year. He won the Triple Crown with a .402 batting average, 14 homers and 54 RBIs. He tied for sixth nationally in homers. He was Southeast Region Player of the Year and a consensus All-American.
Dula was drafted by the Texas Rangers.
Dula is only the second Catawba male to win SAC Athlete of the Year honors. The first was Marvin Moore in 1998-99.
Watauga High’s Ryder Jones, the 64th pick in the recent MLB draft, signed with the San Francisco Giants for $880,000.
East Carolina shortstop Jack Reinheimer, the 147th pick, signed with the Seattle Mariners for $327,600.
Hunter Harvey, a Bandys pitcher who was the 22nd pick of the first round by the Baltimore Orioles hasn’t signed yet, although there’s no indication that he won’t. The 20th and 23rd picks of the first round already have signed and both received bonuses over $2 million.
Catawba’s Chris Dula, who has a year of college eligibility remaining, has not signed. He was pick No. 760 by Texas.
• Left-hander Nick Lomascolo (Catawba), a 34th-round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals, will begin his career in rookie ball in Johnson City, Tenn. Johnson City opens play in the Appalachian League on Thursday.
The West Rowan-Davie County alumni football has been cancelled.
The Salisbury-North Rowan alumni game has been postponed until a field can be secured.
Both Rowan and Southern Rowan’s games Tuesday night were washed out.
The Southern Rowan/Western Forsyth game originally scheduled for June 26 has been canceled.
• The Kannapolis Junior Legion team lost 4-1 at Concord on Tuesday.
Concord scored three runs in the fifth to break a 1-all tie.
Kannapolis (8-6, 2-1) is at Lake Norman on Thursday.
Sixty-eight GARS members played in foursomes at Lexington Golf Club on Monday.
Low ‘A’ Flight player was Tom Talbert with a net of 65.89. Low ‘B’ Flight player with a net of 64.55 was Guy Schenk. Low ‘C’ Flight player with a net of 67.51 was Frank Rowell. Low ‘D’ Flight player with a net of 73.00 was Stan Grabowski.
• In Corbin Hills Women’s Golf Association play on Tuesday, Phyllis Durland won low gross, with Beth Calhoun and Kristi Laton next.
Betsey Edgeworth won low net, with Bev Cobb and Gail Capone next.
Ruth Bowles won low putts.
In the Wells Fargo Cup standings that reflect overall athletic excellence, Lake Norman Charter was the 1A champion. North Rowan finished ninth.
Carrboro was the 2A champion. Salisbury was eighth.
In 3A, Raleigh Cardinal Gibbons won the championship. Robinson tied for seventh.
Green Hope was the 4A champion.
The Salisbury Speedsters Elite Track & Field Club competed in the highly competitive Jim Law Invitational in Charlotte.

Cavalier Football Camp at North Rowan will be held July 29-31. Camp is for rising third-eighth graders and lasts from 9 until noon.
The cost is $40 for three days or $15 per day. Campers will receive a T-shirt. Water and drinks will be provided.
