WILMINGTON – Anna Gregory Wagoner of Winston-Salem and Philip Andrew Taylor of Fayetteville were united in marriage at five o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. Dr. Ernest Trice Thompson III officiated. Wedding music was provided by Mr. John Tabler, church organist.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward William Wagoner of Salisbury and the granddaughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Mills Cooper of Salisbury, Mr. Walter Price Wagoner and the late Mrs. Wagoner of Salisbury and the late Mr. Hubert Gregory Scarborough of Winter Park, Fla. Anna Gregory is a graduate of the The Madeira School in McLean, Va., and received her B.A. degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law and is an attorney with the law firm of Blanco, Tackabery and Matamoros in Winston-Salem.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Elsie Cavanaugh Taylor of Fayetteville and Dr. and Mrs. Robert Brown Taylor of Fayetteville. He is the grandson of the late Mr.and Mrs Henry Sylvester Cavanaugh of Richlands and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wofford Lee Taylor of Durham. Phil is a graduate of Terry Sanford High School, Fayetteville, and attended North Carolina State University. He received a BBA degree in Computer Information Systems from Campbell University, Buies Creek. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the Duke University School of Law and recently served as an Assistant District Attorney in the office of the Cumberland County District Attorney.
Rebecca Salisbury Verrone of Florence, Ala., served as Matron of Honor. John Walker Taylor junior of Raleigh served as Best Man. Ushers were Walter Price Wagoner II of Salisbury, brother of the bride; Robert Brown Taylor junior of Nashville, Tenn., and Dr. James Henry Taylor, of Fayetteville, brothers of the groom; Alex Joe Thompson of Raeford; Jack Allen Thompson junior of Fayetteville; Craig Steven Thompson of Apex; and Robert Tollefsen Thompson of Fayetteville. Readers were Jillian McCartney Wagoner, of Salisbury, sister-in-law of the bride, and Jonna Hughes Bruton, of Burlington.
The bride wore a gown by Spanish designer Rosa Clara. Layers of silk organza flowed down the strapless mermaid silhouette. A French bustle was added to the chapel train of the gown for the reception. Her wedding veil of Brussels Lace, acquired in Belgium in 1920 by the bride’s great-grandmother for her own wedding, was also worn by her mother.
The parents of the bride hosted a reception following the ceremony at the Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington. The Jump Street Band from Washington, D.C., provided the music. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom
