Alex Billingsley earns Eagle
Alex Joe Billingsley, 15, of Salisbury, is receiving his Eagle Award today, Jan. 8, 2012, at Bethel United Methodist Church. Presenting the award is Scoutmaster Philip Spohn of Troop 349 and Steve Miller, Alex’s sponsor.
Alex has earned 35 merit badges and currently holds the position of Quartermaster with Troop 349.
An active member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Alex chose to construct a storage shelter at the church as his Eagle project. He held hamburger and hot dog sales and yard sales to raise funds for the project and recruited help from his Scout troop and the church for the construction.
A 10th-grader at North Rowan High School, Alex is a member of the high school’s band; the J.V. basketball team; Junior Civitan; Key Club; and the Student Government Association.
The son of David and Kim Billingsley of Salisbury, his maternal grandparents are the late Alex and Maretta McClamrock, and his paternal grandparents are Darwin and the late Dallie Billingsley. He has a sister, Caroline Billingsley.
