SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was arrested Saturday afternoon after deputies said he went “door-to-door trying to buy or sell pills.”
A Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report said 50-year-old Gregory Williams was arrested after neighbors on Ridgecrest Road called 911.
Witnesses told officers that Williams had been knocking on doors around the neighborhood asking if residents wanted to buy or sell hydrocodone tablets.
Deputy Oliver Greene stopped a man matching the given description as he attempted to start a blue mo-ped nearby.
Williams told the officer that his scooter would not start and that he did not have any illegal substances on him.
But after giving consent for the deputy to search him, Williams was arrested.
Greene found a small pill bottle with 10 hydrocodone 10 mg pills. The bottle was labeled as a generic form of attention deficit hyperactive disorder medication.
Williams, of 6020 Wildwood Road, was charged with felony trafficking opium and felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver narcotics.
He was released after posting a $2,500 bond.
