The motorcyclist involved in a wreck with a Rowan-Salisbury School activity bus was identified on Friday.

According to reports from the NC State Highway Patrol, Jesse Nicolas Regrut, 26, was operating a 2023 Yamaha motorcycle and heading west on Hwy 801 near Centenary Church Road shortly after 6 p.m. on Thursday, when he reportedly “traveled left of the center line” and collided head on with the bus.

Regrut was airlifted to Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte with injuries described as “serious.”

A Rowan-Salisbury School bus, which was traveling east on the way home from an away game in Mooresville, was reportedly carrying seven passengers, including students, when the wreck occurred.

According to information from school officials, the motorcyclist was airlifted to an area hospital. All occupants of the bus, which included members of North Rowan Middle School’s softball team, were transferred to a different bus and and taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation, but no serious injuries were suspected.
