A Spencer man faces felony and misdemeanor charges following a traffic stop.
Letwon Dontell Faulk was stopped in what a press release describes as “a high crime area of East Spencer” earlier today by ACE Team member Jagger Naves.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a silver Chrysler passenger car for a traffic violation. Naves checked with DMV and found Faulk was driving the vehicle on a revoked driver’s license.
Once Faulk was out of the car, Naves asked for and received consent to pat him down for weapons. During the pat down, Naves felt a bulge in the driver’s pocket which “was immediately identified as marijuana” according to the report. After searching the driver further, a bullet was found in another pocket.
After Faulk was handcuffed, the car was searched and a .22 caliber pistol was found hidden under the driver’s seat. Naves ran a criminal history on the driver and found that Faulk had been charged twice before for carrying a concealed gun, once in 2010 and again in 2011, with a conviction in April 2011.
Faulk, of 301 S. Hudson Ave., Spencer, is charged with a felony count of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; felony possession of a firearm; misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia; misdemeanor driving while license revoked; and failing to stop for a stop sign.
Faulk was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond.
