SALISBURY — A Salisbury motorcyclist was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center-Charlotte Wednesday night after a Ford Expedition turned into his path on Old Concord Road.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper B.S. Roberts said witnesses at the scene did not see a working headlight on the motorcycle just before the collision around 8 p.m.
Roberts said David Sprinkle of Salisbury was on the motorcycle that hit the SUV’s right-side quarter panel.
Sprinkle, 49, was traveling north on Old Concord Road and the white Ford Expedition was heading south, Roberts said.
No charges have been filed, Roberts said, but the investigation is ongoing.
Motorcycle boots and gloves remained on the road Wednesday evening after the victim had been transported by the helicopter.
Emergency crews worked to sweep up the area and looked over the man’s motorcycle, which had been propped up on a nearby pole.
