CONCORD — Concord Police have charged a 22-year-old man with murder after a fatal shooting Thursday.
Matthew Thomas Sherrill, 22, of 3017 Rockingham Court in Concord is accused of killing John Dion Wallace, 43, of 5407 River Falls Dr. in Charlotte.
Police and emergency service personnel responded to a report of a gunshot victim at 5:35 p.m. at 700-3 N.C. Hwy 49 in Concord.
The victim was transported to CMC-Northeast, where he died from an apparent gunshot wound.
The two men were acquaintances. Investigators say the shooting apparently was over a disagreement involving a cell phone the victim had recently purchased from the suspect.
Sherrill was being processed Thursday night and will be taken to Cabarrus County jail.
