Carson High School will open its run of “Steel Magnolias” tonight, 25 years after the show opened off Broadway.
Show time is 7 p.m.
The play follows the exploits of six Southern women struggling with issues that are as relevant today as 25 years ago: love, life and loss shared in the safe haven of the local beauty shop owned and operated by Truvy (played by Katrina Fowler).
Shelby (Olivia Horning) has found true love but knows that her story won’t be complete without a child, much to the disappointment of her mother, M’Lynn (McKenzie Eury) who fears a complication from such a pregnancy. Ouiser (Hannah Leonard) and Clairee (Emily Marohn) provide advice and comic relief while Annelle (Micala Hall) tries to find spiritual clarity amongst the drama of small-town southern life.
The show will run Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
