The 28th Annual Lutheran Home Quilt Show — Quilt Til You Wilt — will open Sunday Feb. 19 from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks, 820 Klumac Road. It will continue on Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. -4 p.m.
The show is supported by the area guilds, and admission is free.
Quilts almost 150 years old as well as quilts that were finished within hours of the opening are featured.
In years past, women took whatever they could find, whether it be discarded garments or feed sacks, and then cut simple blocks and triangles. Out of these materials, they made blankets intended for nothing more than staying warm.
Through the years, this activity has evolved to complex designs of geometric shapes that created thousands of undulating patterns. Fabrics were actually purchased to work on projects. Today with the interest in quilting, some quilts become virtual works of art as craftsman take the fabric and “paint” with it.
There is something for everyone in this display. Quilters will be working on individual projects and will be on hand to answer questions.
