SALISBURY — A routine traffic stop in China Grove turned into a high-speed chase down Interstate 85 this morning and ended when the 20-year-old was stunned by a Taser during a foot chase.
China Grove Police Officer A.W. Bridges tried to stop Tracy Dayqwain Bost, 340 Willow Oaks Drive, on U.S. 29 about 4 a.m. after Bridges noticed him driving in an “erratic manner,” the report said.
Bost fled from the officer in a 1995 Cadillac and got up to 120 mph on Interstate 85 before getting off at the Innes Street Exit.
Officers followed Bost to Hill Street where Bost ditched the Cadillac and led police on a brief foot chase.
A press release said Bost was shot with a Taser while “attempting to hide.”
While being searched, Bost was found to have nine bags of marijuana. Authorities said the bags were packaged to be sold.
The 20-year-old was charged with felony fleeing to elude, driving while license revoked, resisting, delay or obstructing a public officer, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for keeping or storing drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, aggressive driving and providing fictious information to an officer.
He also had outstanding warrants for assault on a female, speeding and driving while license revoked.
Bost was released from prison in September after being convicted of driving after consuming alcohol while under 21 years old.
He’s been convicted of 25 charges, 13 of which were felonies.
