Faith community hosts special services, music and more this weekend

Christiana Lutheran Church’s contemporary worship service, “Jumpstart,” is held on the third Sunday of each month at 8:15 a.m.
It is 45 minutes of high energy praise and worship with favorite contemporary Christian songs and a time of fellowship that begins at 8 a.m. with a light breakfast.
During the 10:30 a.m. service, Christiana’s high school and college graduates, including Christian Eller, Kaitlin Crouch, Andrew Litaker, Brittney Ritchie, Amy Shank and Ryan French, will be honored.
Christiana is located five miles south of I-85 at 6190 U.S. 52, across from Old Stone Winery.
First United Church of Christ, 207 W. Horah St., will celebrate Camp Sunday during the 11 a.m. informal service Sunday in the fellowship hall.
If you have one of your old camp shirts from John’s River Valley Camp or other camps please wear it.
Church members will remember days at camp with the singing of camp and vacation Bible school songs.
This is a special celebration of John’s River Valley Camp, First UCC Youth, and the upcoming youth mission trip the week of July 14.
Following the service, the youth will be selling hot dogs with all the trimmings to raise money for the mission trip.
Dessert will be provided by “Mr Cone.” Food will be served in the fellowship hall with tables available, or bring your blankets to eat outside.

CONCORD — The Gospel Traveliers of the Carolinas celebrate their 31st anniversary at 7 p.m. today and 3 p.m. and Sunday at New Beginning Church of God, 5717 Alexander Road.

CHINA GROVE — FUMC, China Grove will sponsor a program on Project AGAPE, North Carolina support to Armenia, on Wednesday.
The program will be presented by Nara Melkonyan, Project AGAPE director from Armenia.
Gary’s BBQ will cater a meal beginning at 5:30 and the program will start at 6:15 p.m.
The program will be followed with a dessert auction with the proceeds going toward building materials for the mission team in September.
Cost for the meal is $7 and reservations must be made by noon Sunday, May 26 by calling Wanda Watts at 704-857-3623. Child care will be provided.

Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5080 Sherrills Ford Road, will hold a service of praise and thanksgiving at 9 a.m. Sunday with the gospel group The Chapeleers.
In recognition of Memorial Day, Salem will honor and remember with thanksgiving veterans and those who are currently serving in the Armed Forces.

Jerusalem Baptist Church will honor pastor Dr. David Bracken for 12 years of dedication with a Day of Celebration.
The event will take place during the 11 a.m. service Sunday and will continue throughout the day.
The congregation and special guests will enjoy a cookout on the back lawn at 3 p.m..

Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, 611 E. Monroe St., will celebrate pastor Elder Richard Johnson’s 23rd anniversary of ministry to the church during the 11 a.m. service Sunday.
The guest speaker will be the Rev. Patrick Jones, associate pastor of new Zion Baptist.

CLEVELAND — Smith Chapel Apostolic Holiness Church, 1735 Mt. Tabor Church Road, will be hosting its annual Family and Friends Day during the 11 a.m. service Sunday. Lunch will be served afterward.
KANNAPOLIS — Lakewood Baptist Church, 806 Kluttz St., will host a Memorial Day tribute service at 11 a.m. Sunday to honor the service men and women of our country.
Speaker at the morning service is the Rev. Don Davis, chaplain of the American Legion Post 1145 of Kannapolis. He will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and pay tribute to service personnel.
An All Color Guard will present the flag and there will be a medley of armed services songs and patriotic songs.
The church will be decorated inside and outside with hundreds of flags.

Dr. Sam Nadler will be speaking at Calvary Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Nadler grew up a Jewish kid on the streets of New York City, became a completed Jew when he accepted Jesus Christ and began a ministry of outreach to Jews and Gentiles soon thereafter.
He is speaker for Word of Messiah Ministries, headquartered in Charlotte.
Calvary Baptist is located on East Ridge Road just beyond Ellis crossroads.

CHINA GROVE — The Women’s Ministry annual women’s conference at Oak Grove Baptist Church China Grove, which began with sessions Friday and Saturday, continues Sunday with guest speaker Minister Maurice Johnson of Concord Christian Center. Services begin at 3 p.m.
This year’s conference theme is “Release and Unleash Destiny.”

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Salisbury will celebrate its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The message will be delivered by the Rev. William Turner, pastor at Tower of Power United Holy Church.

EAST SPENCER — The Evangelism Board of Southern City AME Zion Church, 940 S Long St., will observe its anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Evangelist Cathy Marlin of Fairview Heights Baptist Church will bring the message.

CLEVELAND — Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, 5890 S. River Church Road, will host its pastor appreciation service for the Rev. William Speas at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Ties and Treasures to Ecuador involves local volunteers who will be departing Charlotte on June 22 to work with Katty Aguirre, a native Ecuadorean missionary, and One Heart Global Ministries to minister to the national pastors of Ecuador and their wives.
Donations of new or gently used neckties and costume jewelry are sought.
Neckties will be a gifted to a national Ecuadorean pastor and jewelry gifted to his wife.
The Charlotte team will be sponsoring a conference for the pastors and their wives.
