SALISBURY — A committee charged with coming up with recommendations about how the city should handle nuisance animals and their owners will hold a public workshop Thursday.
The Nuisance Animal Study Committee wants to hear from the public from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Park Avenue Neighborhood Center, located at 632 Park Ave.
City Council created the group about two months ago. The public forum is part of the committee’s task to make recommendations to the council in June.
The group plans to take input from the workshop and pair it with research and work the committee has already done and form a proposal to City Council on June 18, said Chris Branham, the city’s Code Services Division manager.
The proposal will include suggestions on how to update the city code.
The workshop will include refreshments and will focus on five areas:
• Loose animals
• Fines/taxes
• Tethering
• Number of animals allowed per property
• Spay/neuter and rabies
