SALISBURY — A man was arrested after police say he broke into a home with a log and then ran into the woods, eventually being arrested three days later.
The man had threatened the owner of the home previously, saying that their “well pump might go out,” and that the “wind might pick up and blow their windows out,” according to a spokesperson for the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
The threats became reality when the man allegedly broke into the home around 4 a.m. on Nov. 14, using a log to break into a window. The man then entered the home, allegedly fighting with a man in the home before breaking more windows on his way out of the home. He then ran into the woods, where deputies were reportedly unable to find him after a search.
The man was arrested three days later, where deputies found that he also had prior warrants for his arrest. Raymond Jerel Callicutt, 42, was charged with speeding, two counts of driving while license revoked, having an exercised registration tag, operation of a vehicle without insurance, having an expired inspection, first-degree burglary, assault and injury to real property.
Callicutt was not given a bond.
