SALISBURY — The Salisbury Police Department has issued warrants for arrest after a man allegedly broke into a home and threatened the homeowner with a shard of glass on Tuesday.

The incident began around 1:30 in the morning while the homeowner was sleeping, according to spokesperson for the Salisbury Police Department. They heard a loud bang on the door, and when they went to see what it was, a man pushed past them. The man then allegedly threw a large candle at the victim, hitting them with it.

According to the spokesperson, the man then allegedly threatened the victim, eventually brandishing what they thought was a knife but was actually a large shard of glass. The man then took the victim’s jacket off of a hanger and left the home.

Police have identified the man as 48-year-old Alonzo Ivery Gibson Jr., a man with multiple prior convictions for larceny, according to the spokesperson. Gibson’s most recent conviction was for felony receiving a stolen vehicle, resisting an officer and felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance in 2021.

Warrants for arrest for breaking and entering, assault with a deadly weapon and larceny have been issued for Gibson, said the spokesperson.
