SALISBURY — A stray bullet ended up going through the dining room window of a home owned by former U.S. Senator Elizabeth Hanford Dole sometime between Thursday and Saturday.

The property manager of the home, located in the 700 block of South Fulton Street, reportedly found the damage after noticing a hole in the window on Saturday. The manager told police that he had been at the home on Thursday and the window had no damage then.

Police reportedly found a 9mm bullet in the dining room. A spokesperson for the police department said that the bullet was most likely a stray or a ricochet that ended up in the building and was not intentionally fired into the home.

Dole does not currently live in the home and the home is unoccupied.
