Salisbury track star Jaleesa Smoot wasn’t at the all-county photo shoot last week at Catawba College.
But missed photo or not, Smoot was still the most successful track competitor in Rowan County this season.
By a long shot.
Smoot, a sophomore, had the best track day of any Rowan County athlete, boy or girl.
In the 2A state meet in Greensboro, Smoot won the state title in the 400 meters.
She won the race with a personal best time of 56.59 seconds
Smoot wasn’t through, placing third in the 200 meters (25.71) and fourth 100 (12:55). Smoot scored 21 points in the three events for her team.
