SALISBURY — Love Christmas music?

Join the Salisbury-Rowan Choral Society on Dec. 8 and 9 for a chance to sing Christmas songs and to hear familiar and new carols. Under the direction of Brian Sevison, the choral society will present its first Christmas concert since COVID titled “Spirit of the Season,” on Friday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. at the First United Church of Christ, 297 W. Horah St. and on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 4 p.m. at Milford Hills United Methodist Church, 1630 Statesville Blvd.

Each concert will present well-known carols including “Carol of the Bells,” “O Holy Night,” and a jazz version of “Joy to the World.”  “Noel Festival” incorporates three Noel carols, and there are two lesser-known carols — “Star Carol” and “Angels’ Carol.” In addition, “A Family Christmas Spectacular” will offer a medley of favorite secular Christmas songs.

A small group and a soloist will also share more Christmas music. Then everyone will be invited to sing several carols, and the program will conclude with the concert’s theme song — “Spirit of the Season,” which will send all listeners out, encouraging them to share the Christmas Spirit with others.

The Salisbury-Rowan Choral Society is funded by the Rowan Arts Council, the First United Church of Christ Foundation, the N.C. Arts Council and our dedicated patrons and audience.

Celebrate the Christmas season with carols and songs of the season.
