Authorities say someone broke into a Salisbury man’s home while he was in jail on heroin trafficking charges.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the landlord of the home located in the 900 block of Goodson Road after she went to check on the property. She told investigators she saw a missing window screen and it was evident someone had been inside.
Eric Singer, the renter of the property, was charged a week ago with trafficking heroin and possession of cocaine following a monthlong investigation into a large-scale heroin operation. Two others were also charged in that incident. Singer remains in the county jail under a $750,000 secured bond.
The landlord went to change the locks Monday and returned Wednesday when she saw the missing screen. She also had been looking after the tenants dog and cat, but did not see them. She believed Singer had some valuable jewels in the house, but none were found or stolen. Detention Center officer spoke with Singer who said he’d given someone permission to care for his pets and he didn’t believe she would’ve stolen anything. Investigators say the only items taken were a camera and optical equipment.
