Blotter for Dec. 7: Man charged in armed robbery that sent woman to hospital

SALISBURY — A man was arrested on Tuesday after police identified him as a suspect in a November armed robbery that left one woman in the hospital.

The robbery occurred on Nov. 29, according to a spokesperson for the Salisbury Police Department. Police were dispatched to a home on Dogwood Lane in reference to a robbery that had just occurred. When they arrived, they found two victims, a male and female occupant of the home. The female had sustained hand and hip injuries and had to be transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center for treatment.

According to the two victims, they witnessed two male suspects break into the home through a glass side door. When the female victim tried to stop them, they allegedly assaulted her and caused the injuries.

One of the suspects then held the two victims in a room while the other suspect ransacked the home, according to the spokesperson. The victims said that multiple firearms and a cell phone were stolen. The suspects also allegedly stole the victims’ car on the way out. The vehicle was found a few days later.

Ja’darrius Dameian Bell, 26, was charged with felony robbery with a firearm or other dangerous weapons, felony assault on an individual with a disability, assault inflicting serious bodily injury, first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm by a felon in connection to the event.

Bell was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center and given a $500,000 bond.

In Salisbury Police Department reports:

  • Stalking occurred in the 1100 block of Celebration Drive at 7 a.m. on Dec. 3. Police reports indicate that security camera footage captured an ex-boyfriend of an occupant messing underneath a vehicle in the driveway.
  • A theft of a motor vehicle occurred in the 600 block of North Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue at 10 a.m. on Dec. 3.
  • Vandalism occurred in the 300 block of Bendix Drive between 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 2 and 11:01 a.m. on Dec. 3.
  • A larceny occurred in the 1500 block of South Jake Alexander Boulevard at 11:05 p.m. on Dec. 4. The total estimated loss was $11.
  • Forgery by using or uttering occurred in the 600 block of East Innes Street between 9 a.m. on Nov. 17 and 9 a.m. on Dec. 4. It was reported on Dec. 5.
  • An assault with hands, feet or fist occurred in the 200 block of South McCoy Road at 6:29 p.m. on Dec. 5.
  • Christopher Michael Russell, 24, was charged with resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer on Dec. 3.
  • Malcolm Xavier Harris, 29, was charged with felony assault by strangulation on Dec. 5.
  • Nathan Lee Shue, 52, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury on Dec. 5.

  • A larceny occurred at Cherokee Lane in Salisbury at 9:27 a.m. on Dec. 4.
  • Fraud by wire, computer or electronic manipulation occurred at Mooresville Road in Salisbury at 3:19 p.m. on Dec. 4.
  • A larceny from a motor vehicle occurred at Shuping Mill Road in Salisbury between 6 p.m. on Dec. 3 and 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 4.
  • A 50b weapon seizure occurred at Hunter Street in Salisbury at 4:53 p.m. on Dec. 4.
  • Shoplifting occurred at Grace Church Road in Salisbury at 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 4.
  • A larceny of automobile accessories occurred at Falcon Ridge Road in Salisbury between 8:30 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. on Dec. 4.
  • Matthew Lee Stratford, 40, was charged with second-degree trespassing and assault with a deadly weapon on Dec. 4.
  • Johnny Allen Stewart, 37, was charged with larceny on Dec. 4.
