SALISBURY — Duke Energy customers can expect to experience impacts to their power on Saturday.

In an email on Thursday, Duke Energy Lead Communications Manager Logan Stewart Kureczka indicated that the power company was planning an “emergency scheduled” outage to replace some “transmission infrastructure.”

The planned outage is reportedly required to perform the work safely.

Kureczka said that the work was anticipated to last from approximately 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday.

According to Kureczka, the scheduled outage will impact approximately 1,050 customers.

Those customers are located mainly between Catawba College and Livingstone College, including Livingstone, and along West Innes Street and Statesville Boulevard, including businesses up to Salisbury Motor Company.

“We’ve started proactive communications to these 1,050 customers,” Kureczka said. “We also anticipate it will impact traffic signals. Based on the amount of work to be performed, we believe it will last until approximately 5 p.m.”
