College men’s basketball: Blue Bears drop final game of tough road trip

PHILADELPHIA — Livingstone’s men’s basketball team had to settle for winning two out of three on its five-day northern road trip.
After finding success at Virginia Union and Bowie State, the Blue Bears played a flat first half at Lincoln on Monday, got down by 19 and couldn’t fight all the way back.
Lincoln (6-7, 3-1) led 43-24 at halftime and won the CIAA game 79-68 behind 24 points by Freddie Young Jr.
Detionne Leach, a 6-foot-5 senior forward from Newport News, Va., scored 17 for the Blue Bears (4-7, 2-2) on 7-for-12 shooting.
Pharoah Lassiter and Nathan Montaque scored 11 each. Omarion Broadnax got 10 with 5-for-6 accuracy.
Livingstone shot a decent 45.9 percent, but made only three 3-pointers and turned it over 18 times in Rivero Hall.
The game completed pre-Christmas action for the Blue Bears.
