High school basketball: Champ piles up points, but North Hills loses 2

The North Hills Christian boys basketball team played short-handed in a holiday tournament and lost two games.

North Hills lost 99-50 to Westerminster Christian Academy (10-4) of Rock Hill on Thursday.

Champ Hayden scored 26 points for North Hills, shooting 8-for-18. He made three 3-pointers and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Jerrod Drye scored 10 for the Eagles.

North Hills (8-5) was only one point down going to the fourth quarter, but Charlotte’s Olympic High (3-8) pulled away to beat the Eagles 68-53 on Friday.

Hayden scored 29 points on 9-for-24 shooting. He made six 3-pointers and grabbed nine rebounds.

Drye scored 15 for the Eagles.
