Gray Stone Day School graduates make plans

Gray Stone Day School will hold its ninth graduation ceremony on Friday, June 7 at 7 p.m. The ceremony will be in the gymnasium, adjacent to Pfeiffer University’s Misenheimer campus. A reception will follow.
The speaker will be Thom Tillis. Tillis has 31 years of experience as a senior leader in public service and in consulting firms. Elected to the N.C. House of Representatives in 2006, he is the Speaker. Tillis left IBM in 2009 to focus his attention on serving in the N.C. House of Representatives. He was an executive with IBM Corp. where he led a management consulting practice focused on the financial services industry. Tillis was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, the accounting and management consulting firms.
Tillis lives in Cornelius, with his wife and two children. He has served on the many boards and committees in his local area. He is active in education-related issues and views helping schools as a top priority.
This year will see 66 area graduates complete their high school careers. It is the eighth year seniors have completed a service project as part of their graduation requirements.
Student speakers are Rebecca Brickner, Lea Efird and William Howland. Seniors Catherine Harward, Dustin Britt and Elizabeth Harvell will welcome guests, present the class gift and introduce the speaker.
Junior marshals are Preston Bowers, Jack Chen, Jordan DeJaco, Hunter Efird, Luke Green, Alexa Kennedy, Caroline McLeod, Jordan Redman, Jessica Roy, Caby Styers, Jennie Wagner and Maria Weber.
Students at Gray Stone Day School will graduate with honors according to their cumulative grade point averages determined after the last day of school. Students with a GPA of 4.3–4.44 will graduate with honors; 4.45–4.59 with high honors; and 4.6 and above with highest honors.
