June is the month for weddings and many brides likely are trying to get ideas for their gowns. Why not take look at bridal gowns through history for some inspiration. The China Grove Roller Mill Museum will have a Sunday open house featuring a display of wedding dresses from several generations of women in the community. The event is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Roller Mill is located at 308 N. Main St., China Grove.
The gowns are from the 1940s until 2013 and will include dresses from several grandmothers, mothers and daughters. Some of the brides will be on hand to show their dress and tell their wedding story. The event is free and open to the public. Wedding refreshments will be served.
The exhibit will feature dresses from the following: Anita “Tammy” Corriher, Evelyn Hoffner, Lori Hoffner Corriher, Meredith Corriher Jones, Julie Basinger Deal, Annie Deal, April Deal Smith, Eva Deal Yost, Karen Yost McKnight, Doris McGarrity Yost, Emily Yost Currie, Becky Withers, Megan Withers Parks, Kelly Withers, Sue Dodd, Amanda Athey Eller and Christy Athey Austin.
There will about tours of the museum available, which has new and updated exhibits.
The story of the community and the mill are told in pictorial exhibits, artifact displays and video. The building that houses the museum was a meeting place for the agricultural community surrounding China Grove.
