SALISBURY — Water’s importance to life cannot be overstated. Yet, recent regulatory changes threaten the nation, and North Carolina’s, wetlands. Join in as panelists address a confluence of water-related issues, shedding light on recent legislative changes that pose significant challenges to water protection.
Notable among these changes are the Sackett decision at the Supreme Court and North Carolina’s 2023 Farm Bill, which collectively remove Clean Water Act protections from millions of acres of wetlands.
Speakers include Stan Meiburg, executive director of the WFU Sabin Family Center for Environment and Sustainability; Edgar Miller, executive director/riverkeeper of Yadkin Riverkeeper, Inc.; Manley Fuller, vice president of conservation policy for NC Wildlife Federation; and Kelly Moser, senior attorney leader of the Souther Environmental Law Center’s water program.
Center for the Environment Executive Director Lee Ball will serve as the moderator.
The event takes place tonight, Jan. 18, at the Catawba College Center for the Environment, located at 2300 W Innes St., Salisbury, at 6:30 p.m.
It is free to the public.
