Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church hosted the 47th Annual Community Wide Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration and Humanitarian Awards Program on Sunday, Jan. 14.
The event featured creative expression dance performances by Triple Threat Dance & Charm and Mount Zion Dance Ministry. The Buffalo Soldiers Greater North Carolina Chapter presented the colors.
Members of J.C. Price American Legion Post #107 presented the Pledge of Allegiance.
Several local officials from various municipalities and board delivered greeting remarks.
Leonard Hall and Erik Lipscomb received the 2024 Humanitarian Service Awards during the program.
Michelle Cartwright, Mary Morgan and Jordan Nunley were recognized for the Dr. Samuel R. & Dr. Eva H. Johnson Memorial Scholarship.
