College women’s basketball: LC loses at Claflin

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Claflin used a surge in the third quarter to beat Livingstone’s women’s basketball team 75-64 on Wednesday.
Livingstone (3-7, 1-6) had a nine-point lead with just under six minutes left in the first half, but Claflin fought back for a 36-all score at halftime.
Then Claflin (8-7, 2-5) scored 26 points in the third quarter to pull away in a CIAA game played in Tullis Arena in front of 370 spectators.
The Panthers led by as many as 15 points.
Andresia Alexander (13), Samiyah Briggs (11) and Thalia Carter (10) were in double figures for Livingstone.
Lauren Scott and Leigha Harris scored 14 each for Claflin.
Claflin shot 43.5 percent to Livingstone’s 37 percent. Both teams knocked down eight 3-pointers.
Claflin had an important advantage at the foul line, making 13 of 17, while Livingstone could only convert on half of its 20 attempts.
