College women’s basketball: Livingstone surprises Shaw

RALEIGH — Livingstone’s women’s basketball team won 70-54 at Shaw on Saturday in a CIAA upset.
Livingstone scored 45 points in the first half at Spaulding Gym to build an 18-point lead and was able to hold it.
The 3-point line was important for the Blue Bears (4-8, 2-6). They made a dozen, including four each by Andresia Alexander and Nielle Reaves.
Reaves had a great day, coming off the bench to score 14 points in 15 minutes.
Alexander scored 18.
Livingstone also took care of the ball and won the turnover battle 20-14.
Alexis Ratcliff led Shaw (9-8, 4-4) with 11 points.
