Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Carolina Precision Plastics LLC, a global plastics manufacturer, will locate a new facility in Davie County.
The company plans to create 140 jobs and invest $5.3 million during the next three years in Mocksville. The project was made possible in part by a $250,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.
“Our history of investing in education and workforce training have helped create a business climate that enables companies like Carolina Precision Plastics to expand and thrive,” Perdue said. “We must continue to build an educated, skilled workforce in order for North Carolina to compete in this global economy.”
Carolina Precision Plastics, which operates as CPP Global, is a privately held company with manufacturing facilities in North Carolina, Connecticut and China. The company produces a variety of injection molded and blow molded products, primarily in the area of consumer packaging, for the cosmetic and pharmaceutical sectors. CPP employs 280 employees at its facilities in Greensboro and Asheboro.
Salaries will vary by job function, but the average annual wage for the new jobs will be $39,183 plus benefits. The Davie County average annual wage is $28,808.
“We are excited to increase our presence in North Carolina,” said CPP Global President and CEO Brian Tauber. “Our objective is to create a cutting-edge, highly efficient operation, and the support of North Carolina has been critical to our efforts.”
The One NC Fund provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. Companies receive no money up front and must meet job creation and investment performance standards to qualify for grant funds. These grants also require and are contingent upon local matches.
North Carolina continues to have a top-ranked business climate. Through Perdue’s JobsNOW initiative, the state works to create jobs, train and retrain its workforce, and lay the foundation for a strong and sustainable economic future.
Through use of the One NC Fund, more than 60,000 jobs and $11 billion in investment have been created since 2001. Other partners that helped with this project include: the N.C. Department of Commerce, N.C. Department of Transportation, Verizon, the N.C. Community Colleges, N.C. Rural Economic Development Center, Davie County, Town of Mocksville and the Davie County Economic Development Commission.
