East Rowan seniors receive Silver Award

Venture Crew 415 at East Rowan High School presented five seniors with the Silver Award this school year. The silver award is the highest award in the Venture Scouting program.
The earn the Silver Award, cadets must first be awarded the Venture Bronze and Venture Gold awards.
The recipients of the award were cadet Col. Samuel Lakey, cadet Lt. Col. Amy Carlton, cadet Lt. Col. Ashley Cline, cadet Lt. Col. Chris Streetman, and cadet Maj. Brianne Salgado.
Lakey is the son of Jon and Marti Lakey. He is a member of the National Honor Society, an Eagle Scout, and a rappel master. He has been on the rifle team since his freshman year, and has served as rifle team commander and battalion commander. He has been accepted to Appalachian State University, where he plans to major in psychology.
Carlton is the daughter of John and Elaine Carlton. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the current battalion commander. She is the head rappel master and a member of the rifle team. She has been on the golf and track teams and is a rescue SCUBA diver. She has been accepted to Appalachian State University, where she plans to major in nursing.
Cline is the daughter of Roy and Ann Koontz. She is a member of the swim team and she runs track. She is on the raider team, and is also a lifeguard and rappel master. After high school, she plans to enlist in the U.S. Air Force.
Streetman is the son of Mike and Julie Streetman. He attends Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, in addition to his classes at East Rowan, for classes in EMS and Fire/Rescue. He is a volunteer firefighter at the Granite Quarry Fire Department. He is the raider team commander, a rappel master, a lifeguard, an advanced SCUBA diver and a member of the color guard. Streetman is enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private first class. He leaves for basic training at Ft. Benning, Ga. on July 24.
Salgado is the daughter of Bryan and Stacie Salgado. She is a competition dancer at To The Pointe Dance Company. She has been on the drill team since her freshman year and is the current drill team commander. She is a rappel master and a lifeguard. She hopes to attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and major in communications.
Bri Salgado is a senior at East Rowan High School and a Salisbury Post intern.
